The required AxiOwl core choice installs the native
AxiOwl.app, the axiowl CLI, and local provider
lifecycle resources. The installer uses one selected domain: system
installs use /Applications, /usr/local/bin, and
/Library/AxiOwl; current-user installs use
~/Applications, ~/.local/bin, and
~/Library/AxiOwl.
The optional, preselected Provider configuration choice applies provider-owned MCP configuration for discovered Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, Copilot, Antigravity/Gemini, Cursor, and VS Code surfaces, including the AxiOwl VS Code bridge extension. It preserves unrelated settings and verifies owned entries by readback.
Configuration readback is not provider authentication or delivery proof. Provider configuration is not provider authentication or delivery proof. AxiOwl only reports Create, Rename, Send, and identity success when the provider returns authoritative results for the exact session. Desktop bridges must be registered and operational before their operations are available.
After installation, inspect axiowl status and
axiowl discover. The core package also installs the
bundled AxiOwl daemon and starts it for the logged-in user through
launchd on 127.0.0.1:6768. The native Connections & Devices
GUI controls relay access and requires explicit local acceptance before a
new device receives a usable encrypted session. The installer does not
invent credentials or trust.
Logs are in ~/Library/Logs/AxiOwl/.
